Illnesses affect animals in the exact same way that they affect humans. Discomfort is never something tolerable and using whatever means at our disposal we eagerly anticipate the time when we feel well again. Any pet lover must know the importance of keeping their pet happy. And when it comes to animals kitten diseases can be a stressful inconvenience if you too are battling with illness. Featured in this article are a few kitten illnesses and how they can be detected.

Bacterial disease is a common type of illness to both humans and animals. When bacteria builds up in a kittens body it can easily trigger bacterial infections. If you feed the kitten food that is spoilt or when a kitten is injured bacterial diseases can very easily settle in their fragile bodies. Salmonella, TB, tetanus and feline anemia are typical bacterial diseases to watch out for.

Some kitten diseases are viral. Viral diseases are generally transmitted between kittens when there is an exchange of body fluid between them. So if there is a kitten sick with a viral infection in your neighborhood simple contact with it can get your kitten infected. Feline viral respiratory disease, feline distemper and feline infectious peritonitis are viral diseases known to be harmful to kittens. However, these are not the only ones.

Against popular belief a mosquito bite can bring about feline heartworm disease. Feline heartworm disease is spread from one kitten to the next when an infected kitten is bitten by a mosquito and that mosquito goes on to bite another kitten. Fortunately this fatal disease can be cured or prevented by specific heartworm medikittenion that is ideally suited for the illness your pet has.

Tick bites are also responsible for causing kitten diseases. Lyme disease is a specific type of disease that is passed from animal to animal, particularly from deer and dogs. So just like the mosquito transmits heartworm disease ticks work in a similar manner.

Cat grooming can often be a challenge simply because most kittens don’t like it! Cats have a natural tendency to hate water so bathing can be problematic (if not downright painful for you!). Luckily most kittens actually keep their fur pretty clean so bathing isn’t something you will have to do too often.

Brushing your kitten can be a bit easier as many kittens simply love to be brushed. Using a metal bristle brush will make sure that you get all the stray hairs caught in your pets coat. Brushing can be done daily if your kitten will let you.

Dental care is another part of kitten grooming that can be challenging. Just like humans, kittens can build up tarter and bacteria on their teeth. Not only is this bad for their teeth and gums but it can have adverse affects on their overall health. Therefore, brushing their teeth daily is recommended. They have special poultry flavored toothpaste for this (you should never use human toothpaste) and kittens love it. But getting a toothbrush into their mouth is a different matter! It’s best to start slowly and get youir kitten used to you putting something on his teeth first.

When it comes to kitten grooming, it’s best to start young. If you can get your kitten used to things like clipping his nails and brushing his teeth when he is a kitten it will be all that much easier for both of you!

Adopting a kitten can be a fun thing for your family. But, you want to make sure you get one that has the type of personality you want. Some kittens are shy while others can be hellions.

Most municipalities, if not all, have organizations that are formed with the sole intention of taking care of abandoned pets. Whilst they are completely dedikittened to improving the welfare of animals they are also open to pet adoptions. When a kitten has just given birth to a litter of kittens the costs of taking care of the kittens can be so high that the best next alternative is for them to put up their animals for adoption.

If you are looking at adopting a kitten then these organizations are the place for you! You can usually find them under “humane society” or “animal shelter” in your phone book. Be prepared to answer some questions though as they don’t just let anyone adopt a kitten and the will want to ensure that you will care for the animal properly before you take it home.

Adopting a kitten is not something to be taken lightly. Although kittens are very easy to care for you must be sure that you have the proper food for the kitten as well as a good litter box, comfortable bedding for him to snuggle up in and some toys. Also, you must commit to minimal veterinary expenses and make sure the animal has all it’s vaccinations as well as yearly checkups.

When it comes to animals hair loss is always a sign that something is wrong, especially if the animal is still too young to be losing hair. Cat hair loss is not as common as other kitten illnesses and because of this little is known about what exactly causes it. If you are eager to know more about this condition you must read on, the information might save the life of your kitten.

The diet your kitten subscribes to has a great impact on the loss of hair. When you do not feed the kitten good quality food the losing of hair can be triggered. Allergies cause a discomforting itchiness in scenarios where the kitten is allergic to certain foods.

So as the kitten scratches away at its skin the hair will come off and skin can become even more irritated. Unless if you have not noticed an animal that is feed all the right food always has a shiny coat of fur. But if it is ill fed its hair will feel dry and appear dull.

If your pet is suffering from kitten hair loss, you can buy hypo allergenic food. Because kittens are carnivores it is imperative that their diet is mainly composed of meat. You can either buy prepared pet food that is sold in tins or buy fresh meat and cook it for your kitten. If you have no idea on what exactly to buy then consult with a registered veterinarian to find out what to buy. But over and above anything meaty should suffice if it is prepared well.

Fungal infections like ringworm can also bring about kitten hair loss. Lesions that are circular in structure should appear on the surface of its skin, generally on the face, tail or ears. Such lesions normally leave portions harboring the ringworm without hair and such areas will be scaly in the middle.

It’s not easy to know how your kitten is feeling because it is their instinct to hide any sign of illness or weakness from you. But, in order to provide them the proper care, it’s important to know if they are sick. Simply knowing how to monitor kitten health will be a world of benefit for you if you seriously love and adore your pet. There are a variety of ways to know whether your pet is healthy and I will surely reveal some of those in this article.

Set up regular appointments with the veterinarian and see to it that you take your kitten for regular check ups. Because these animal experts know just about everything there is about animal health they are always the smartest option. So if there is anything wrong with the kitten any diseases or illnesses will be immediately spotted and sidelined for treatment.

One of the main reasons why visits to the vet are worthwhile is that you get expert advice on all different aspects of kitten health including their grooming and dental care. There are so many scenarios where someone might assume to know what is best for the kitten when they know nothing at all. Sometimes treatments need to be specific to the type of illness they are meant to address. Therefore the advice from your neighbor can be misdirected.

Buy a book on kitten health. Books written by professionals normally tackle all the aspects of kitten grooming, from birth to their eventual death. Using the simple information in such books you will be able to take care of a kitten without having to waste money on habitual visits to a vet.

Another useful resource is the internet. But instead of visiting general information websites visit one that is run on a purely professional level. By this I mean you must deal with a website that is run by an expert on kittens whose primary goal is to improve kitten health care.

Cat illnesses are a real concern to pet lovers who have to sometimes deal with the trauma of seeing their beloved pet get sick battle. The look of struggle and pain as a rampant illness causes an animal to twist its face in pain is disconcerting even to the savage and heartless. If you have a pet kitten and you would like to know a few things about pet illnesses then it is advisable for you to keep reading.

One disease that can be a problem for outdoor kittens is Lyme disease. Lyme disease is an illness that is caused by tick bites amongst animals. One particular instance is when a kitten is bitten by the same tick that bites a dog. The second scenario is rare though with deer ticks being the primary cause of the disease being transmitted from one animal to the next.

Common signs and symptoms of this kitten illness are: fever, loss of appetite and nausea. However, some of the most fatal symptoms such as a very rare bleeding from the mouth are easily detected when the kitten goes for a scan. That is why it is recommended that you take your pet to the vet for regular checkups each year

Feline leukemia is one disease that is more lethal than others and it is caused by a viral infection that weakens the immune system of your kitten. With this disease come a host of other complikittenions such as cancer and kitten AIDS. When a kitten suffers from this leukemia its natural defense system is rendered useless, allowing the virus to take its toll on an already weakened immune system. Luckily, you can have your kitten vaccinated against this disease and if you keep your kitten indoors, the likelihood of him contracting it is slim.

The symptoms of kitten illness may be very subtle because kittens like all animals do not like to show when they are sick. That’s why it is a good idea to get your kitten to the vet if you notice any behavior that is unusual or a change in his eating or bathroom habits. Of course, regular vet visits help to keep your kitten healthy and free from illness too.

Taking care of a pet kitten can be a bit different from a dog or other type of pet. However, not knowing how to care for a kitten does not signal the end of the world, believe me, there are far more difficult things in life. For those interested in knowing how best to take care of a pet kitten this article must be insightful.

Cats love to have a comfy place to sleep, but you don’t have to run out and buy an expensive kitten bed. By simply making use of an empty cardboard box and a few used clothes you should be able to construct a bed that is both comfortable and makes the kitten feel safe. Veterinary experts say that a well rested kitten is happier and more co-operative than one that is not. Plus, kittens that do not receive a decent amount of rest tend to be sickly and more vulnerable to disease than those that do.

Even though your pet kitten may seem aloof and act like a loner, most of them do like some sort of attention. Animals enjoy interaction in the exact same way as any human would. Therefore try as much as possible to hang out with your kitten a friend so that it does not feel too isolated and confined.

Pets need to be fed regularly. When kittens are fed regularly they appear healthy, with shiny fur and seemingly uncontrollable bouts of adrenalin. Cats do not actually eat as much as dogs, plus they prefer to eat small meals that are spaced out evenly throughout the day.

Of course, caring for a pet kitten also means that you must take him to the vet for all his shots and for a yearly exam. Keeping your kitten free from fleas, worms and other parasites, brushing him regularly and brusing his teeth will ensure optimum health.

Adopting a kitten can be both rewarding and challenging, especially if you have never had one before. During the first few weeks you are going to struggle with knowing which kitten behavior patterns are normal and which ones are not. Kittens can do some pretty strange things but you will soon learn that what may seem alarming is really just normal behavior.

What most kittens are known to do is run around a lot. When you are sitting on the porch you might see it dart form on direction to the other, just like it was some unstable molecular structure scared of being discovered by a breakthrough scientist. As it grows a little older it will of course stop doing this, in a similar fashion to the way we all become responsible adults after a few years of staying with our parents.

If the mother of your kittens is still around it is normal kitten behavior entails crouching round them as they feed or relax. But what is most interesting is the way most kittens learn to huddle around any adult female kitten in the immediate vicinity. So next time you see your pet kitten playing around with the neighbors kitten there is no reason to be scared. Cats can do it just like we as humans adopt children.

You may find your kitten jumping up at odd angles and racing around the house one minute and then literally dropping off to sleep the next. Also, kittens have little control over their claws so be prepared for lots of scratches (don’t worry they learn to retract them properly as they get older!). Another thing to be on the lookout for is that they climb on everything – including your legs!

Kitten behavior patterns can seem a bit bizarre, but if your kitten is eating, sleeping and going to the bathroom as expected, the he is probably happy and healthy.

Toilet training kittens – sounds weird and difficult doesn’t it?

It is possible though. You need to stay committed to the cause and have a lot of time and patience for it to be a success. It is a similar exercise as if you were doing the same with a child. Make sure that the kitten has been trained in both outdoor and litter box toiletry skills before undertaking this task.

Step one is to transfer the kittens litter box to the bathroom. Once it is there, move it to the side of the w. C. Raise it up gradually until it is about the same height as the w. C. Ensure that the structure is rigid as you don’t want it to fall over when the kitten jumps on it.

The second step is to put a training seat onto your normal toilet and place a small amount of kitten litter inside the training seat. As soon as the kitten has got used to this, cut a small hole in the middle of the seat gradually making it larger until eventually totally open. As soon as you have done this, the kitten should be used to using the toilet so you will no longer need the training seat.

The one thing to remember about toiler training kittens, however, is that your kitten will not have the ability to flush the toilet after use – you have to do it. If you have got more than one toilet/bathroom in your home, make a specific one the one for the training to be carried out. You might want to put a sign on the door that says ‘kitten toilet training in progress’ to remind others in the house (particularly the children and/or elderly relatives) not to use it themselves and place the lid down after use. This will only confuse your kitten.

There are some advantages, however, to training your kitten to use the toilet – not least there will be fewer smells from litter boxes in the house. You wont need to get rid of the used litter trays which is good for environmental reasons and you will also save bundles of cash not having to buy litter in the future.

So although you will not need a huge number of supplies or appliances when toilet training kittens, what you will need in abundance is patience, patience – and more patience.
